Importing an adult doll into Thailand
Tax and duty
VAT is 7%. The former THB 1,500 de minimis was first narrowed by a temporary VAT measure from July 2024 and then, according to secondary reporting, abolished from 1 January 2026, making all imported parcels assessable regardless of value. We could not confirm that final step against the Customs Department directly, so verify it if the figure matters to you — though for this category the legal position makes the tax question moot.
What customs actually does
Very high seizure risk. Confiscation at the border is the reported norm, and travellers have been warned of imprisonment and fines for bringing in even small personal devices.
Prohibited regardless of anything else
Prohibited, and compounding an already illegal import.

- The open sale of adult products in Thai markets is the trap. Domestic non-enforcement does not extend to the border, where customs screening is the actual chokepoint.

Adult-form dolls legal to import. Childlike dolls carry up to 15 years — enforcement is active and aggressive.

Lawful in principle, but the seizure standard is broader and vaguer than Australia's — read before ordering.
United States
No federal ban on adult-form dolls — but the $800 duty-free allowance every other guide still quotes was abolished in August 2025.
